This year's Pride London Parade and Rally will take place in central London on Saturday 5 July. Paul Birrell, Chair of Pride London, said: 'Following the enormous success of the Pride events in June 2007, and all the feedback we received from people who took part, our aim is to create an even bigger and better event for 2008. We will continue to work closely with the Mayor of London to develop this free, world-class event, with the aim of attracting the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) community from London, across the UK and internationally.' 'Pride Day will encompass an even bigger Pride Parade with commercial float sponsors linking up with LGBT groups and charities to support them. Keep a lookout on our website and in the press for further information.' Mayor of London Ken Livingstone, who is again supporting the parade through central London and the free event in Trafalgar Square, as well as events in Leicester Square and Soho, said: 'Pride London is a key event for London as a great world city. The capital is home to the largest, most diverse lesbian and gay population in Europe and this event, attended by people of all sexualities, sends out a clear signal that London welcomes and is a safe place for lesbians and gay men to live in and visit.'

Cornwall Pride

23 Aug 2008 - 23 Aug 2008

Saturday 23rd August 2008
Cornwall’s first ever Cornwall Pride Festival took its first steps to becoming a reality this week, when on Monday 11th the Pride 2008 Committee met for the first time. The committee will be responsible for planning and carrying out the diversity festival this year.
Saturday 23rd August was chosen as the date for the event and preparations are already under way to make sure it is an event that all people in Cornwall can be proud of – from whatever background or lifestyle.
After the first meeting, the newly-elected Chairman Christian Diamant said “The idea of Pride is to be an all inclusive celebration of diversity in Cornwall. Everyone will be welcome to participate in the parade through Truro and then onto celebrations afterwards.”
The Pride event will be similar to other events throughout the country and should be an opportunity for local business to benefit from a significant group of people from across the country.
Christian Diamant went on to say “At its most basic what Cornwall Pride is celebrating is the fact that Cornwall is a better place because not everyone is white, not everyone is straight and that Cornwall would be a worse place if we were all the same! Hopefully, the event will be enjoyable for both locals and holiday makers who are visiting our County.”
