Eight Guernsey deputies are calling on the States to consider new laws recognising same sex couples.
Value Deputy Peter Roffey said it was important to work out what would happen if a couple in a civil partnership moved to the island from the UK.

Legislation would allow same-sex weddings and also see gay and unmarried straight couples gain the same tax and inheritance rights as married couples.

The Policy Council will investigate the issue this month.
