NVIRONMENT COMMISSIONER PRAISES GREEN MEP

OUTGOING European Environment Commissioner Margot Wallstrom has thanked Green Euro-MP Caroline Lucas for her commitment to sustainable development and the environment.

Ms Wallstrom, who left her post to make way for incoming Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas last week, called on Dr Lucas, Environment Committee member and MEP for South-East England, to work closely with Mr Dimas to ensure efforts on the areas of sustainable development, health, chemicals, emissions, waste, wildlife and habitat protection were enhanced.

'I would like to thank you for your commitment, cooperation and support' to help realise our common objective of securing a greener, healthier, environment for all, said Ms Wallstrom, in a personal letter to Dr Lucas one of her last as Environment Commissioner.

Dr Lucas said: 'Wallstrom has been a committed and capable environment commissioner' I thank her for her kind words and wish her all the best
