ELECTION News from the Green Party

Green to stand expected 200 candidates: 25% increase from 2001 "Greens are radical, honest, electable, and getting stronger by the year." - Keith Taylor

The Green Party will enter the 2005 election, with 25% more Parliamentary candidates and 1/3rd more county council candidates than in the last election, and high prospects of returning Britain's first Green MP to Westminster.

The Greens will be standing 196 - more by nominations' close - parliamentary seats in England, Scotland* and Wales, and 580 seats in the local elections. Green Principal Speaker Cllr Keith Taylor, the Brighton Pavilion candidate tipped to become Britain's first ever Green MP, comments: "We are fighting the 2005 election with increasing candidate numbers, more elected Greens than ever before, and a sweeping manifesto for environmental, economic and social justice
that the business-dominated mainstream parties cannot offer."
