Life can present many challenges, particularly for people in minority groups such as the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community. It can sometimes help to talk about life's challenges, painful feelings, or work through difficult decisions by talking to somebody objective who is trained to listen and support you.

The Counselling Project within Brighton Lesbian and Gay Switchboard has been providing short term low cost Counselling to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community of Brighton + Hove and the surrounding areas for almost six years. We operate a sliding scale with minimum fees for clients who are unwaged/in receipt of benefits making our service accessible to all.

The Counselling Project works with a range of issues such as Sexuality/coming-out related difficulties, relationship difficulties, low self esteem, depression, loss and bereavement, family difficulties, anxiety, drug and alcohol problems, to name but a few.

All of the Counsellors who work for The Counselling Project identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual or Transgender, providing a truly LGBT Affirmative service to the community. As an organisational member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy we are bound by their Ethical Framework for Good Practise and are subject to their complaints procedure.

If you feel you would benefit from Counselling and would like to request an application pack or ask some questions about the service we offer contact:
