Political Slot, 7.50 p.m. tonight


The Green Party's new Real Progress theme will feature in tonight's Channel 4 Political Slot, to be broadcast at 7.50 p.m. after the early evening news.

Dr Caroline Lucas MEP, the Green Party's Principal Speaker and Euro-MP for South East England, will look at government policy around energy and climate change and ask "Is this progress?"

Pointing out that climate change is the biggest threat to the world's economy in coming decades, and that the government is still doing far more to promote fossil fuels than to foster sustainable energy use, Caroline Lucas will make the case for the win-win solutions proposed by the Green Party.

"The policies we need to stop climate change will have all kinds of spin-off benefits," Dr Lucas will say. "Renewable energy will give us more jobs.
